J. Wakefield Brewing

J. Wakefield Brewing was the third stop on our Wynwood Arts District tour of Miami, (read Work_19). As we walked down 24th street surrounded art we spied the 20 foot tall painting of Darth Vader, which we knew marked the location of the Brewery. We ducked inside and scored four seats at the long brewhaus table. Every wall at JWB pays homage to Star Wars. We ran through the menu and selected a few choice offerings: Hops 4 Teacher (6% ABV), El Jefe, Hefeweizen (5.5% ABV). John Wakefeild, formerly of Cigar City, has won several awards for his creative fruit infused beers. In 12 years John went from homebrewer to world famous brewer coming in 8th in the world with his Dragon Fruit/ Passion Fruit weisse

There were several breweries in the Wynwood area, three right on 24th street, but we only had time to visit our limit of three in one day. J Wakefield will be our first stop and maybe our last stop when we return for our night visit. The fruity flavors are a great way to start a tasting tour and the La Nada (13% ABV) would be a great way to end. I can't get this song, by Little Barrie, out of my head called - Why Don't You Do It.
